Picture Quality & Printing to Tape

Just purchased SF VV2.0 and upgraded to the latest load ...
2.0b 362. I have been having fun but I need to render a
project in the near future. Could anyone suggest the best
combination of setting to deliver an incredible finished
project? Recommendations for both PC and DV would be
appreciated.

Also, I have been trying to 'print to tape' all day and
it's just not working. I keep getting this error: 'Com
object failed to initialize'. By the way, I have already
upgraded to DirectX 8.0a and installed Microsofts DV
enhancements. I can't even print to tape the video I
captured from my DV camera.

Here's my set up:

P4 1.4Mhz, 384 Meg RAM, 60 Gig 7200 RPM Harddisk, Windows
ME, TI OHCI compatible 1394 Card, JVC GR-DVL-9500 Digital
Camera.

I have to get this project done ... I have volunteered to
pull this 8 minute video together for my kids school
auction.

Thanks!

uninstall/reinstall Video Capture App

render your project using the NTSC DV template

If this doesn't work, go here for more info:

Okay, I should've looked at the web site some more. I found
the fix and I was able to print to tape just fine.

Now for the video quality ... I really want to pull
together a great project but the video is really jerky and
sometimes blurry!

Suggestions?

If you have DV source footage,

and you have DirectX8 installed

and you render to the NTSC DV template

and you print the footage to DV

and you play the video off your DV camera and into a decent
TV or Video Monitor, the quality should be excellent.

This is the only way to see how the final program really
looks- off of the destination format, decompressed by that
device. You can also use the external monitor function in
Vegas, but since processing is involved you may not get
full frame rate all the time- is that what you are seeing?

Also, unless absolutely necessary, make sure "resample"
video is unchecked- most of the time that isn't needed.

Okay, I will try your recommendation but I believe I
printed to tape just as you described and the quality
looked questionable.

What's the best format for play back on the PC?

Just finished another test ... I changed the DV rendering
quality to 'preview' and achieved superior results when
compared to the file I rendered using the 'best' setting.
Can someone let me know why 'preview quality' is better
than 'best quality'?

I very pleased with the results ... finally and I'll
continue to use this setting unless there is a better one!
