Picture resolution for movie...

Good day all....

I'm having trouble finding my first education lesson on this forum back in May 2010.

So, I'm looking for confirmation as to what resolution my pictures should be prior to adding them to my movie project. (Music Anthology).
I believe I was recommended that image resolutions should be 720x480 which also would cater best to a WS render.
Maybe this is best for wide screen or any .avi renders for DVD movie.
I'm still trying to grasp the depth of this great program.

I will will thank any and all in advance for de-confusing me on this inquiry.

Later....

UPDATE....

Ok...I did some searching and it seems that 720x480 is the DVD movie resolution.
I guess I will edit all my images for this project to a 720x480.

Of course, I'm quite happy to accept any further education from this think tank.

Thanks...

For 4:3 DVD images should be 654x480 or 655x480.
For widescreen DVD images should be 873x480.

This assumes that you're not planning on zooming, panning, or cropping on the Vegas timeline.

Actually i wouldn't worry about being exact. As long as your images are at least 480 pixels high and not extremely big, Vegas will resize them to fit all by it's lonesome. Let it do the thinking for you.

Chienworks......

Just wanted to thank you for chiming in.
I often wondered what sort of 'automatic' resizing may occur in adding so many different sizes of old pictures.
My military documentary project involved many different sized of photos and deciding how to get them all in one format was a real time vampire.

Thanks again for the help.
