Can't speak with certainty about that particular card, but some Pinnacle devices require proprietary drivers and can only be used with their software.

Which, in a lot of cases means that it won't work with ANY software...

I know if it's the blue breakout box, it's not OCHI something-or-another-compliant; uses propritary drivers.

The only exception to this is that it will work with Scenalyzer...and work quite well.

Tru www.scenalyzer.com, download the demo, and give it a try.

Pinnacle stuff is the worst. Dump it at all costs...

You must have Pinnacle Studio installed with all drivers. Then you can capture through IEEE 1394 port of AV/DV in Vegas 5. (Don't know anything about Vegas 4). Also you can use Pinnacle Studio as a capture/print to tape program and Vegas as editing only.

Which Pinnacle capture card do you have?
Some of the early Pinnacle cards, DV300 were not OHCI compatible.
The DV500 and Pro-ONE are and I've used them with Vegas 4 and Vegas 5 without any problems. Studio 8 and 9 should be compatible as well.

Of course your turning an expensive editing card onto a $30.00, or less, firewire connection but if you are still using the cards original software as well it makes sense.

I generally use Vegas but there are some things the plugins that come with the Pro-ONE can do in Premiere 6.5, like realtime motion detection, that Vegas doesn't do and it also offers analogue I/O. Next time round though I'll get an external analogue box.

It is not compatible. It captures with either Studio installed or just Scenalyzer. That's it.
