Pinnacle DV500 with Vegas 3.0b

Hi.
I am wondering why I cant use Vegas capture window to capture DV through the firewire port on my Pinnacle DV500 board. The only reason I have the Pinnacle is for analog capture which it does superbly using either DV Tools (Pinnacle) or ScenalyzerLive. I am also able to capture DV in DV Tools and ScenalyzerLive, BUT NOT WITH VEGAS.
It does not seem to be detecting that I have the Pinnacle card there.
This also means I can not Print To Tape or use an external monitor.

I fear that its because the Pinnacle card has analog on it too, and although I already have 4 firewire ports on that, I'm going to have to buy yet another plain, standard firewire card just to allow me to print to tape.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated. If its a problem with Vegas 3.0b, then would upgrading to 4.0 add support for the Pinnacle card?

There is a new driver for the DV500, 4.5, which has a standard 1394 driver. This functions well with VV 3.0 or V4.

I am currently using both Premiere 6.0 with the DV500 and Vegas 4.0. The firewire ports on the DV500 work fine with both applications.

The DV500 software change is large > 200 megs. I'm running XP Pro and had to "rebuild" my system to get every to work.

Vegas works so well I'm using Premiere less and less.

Very interesting John.
I was running v3.0 of DV500.
I really want to see if this 4.5 version will help me out but although I have broadband, so large downloads are no problem to me, I have tried downloading and installing the 4.5 from Pinnacles site in fulll and in 3 part files but they both seem to be currupted and give an error when I try to install them.
I agree with you and I am also starting to use Premiere less and less.

Could you tell me if you are currently able to preview your Vegas on a monitor connected to the Pinnacle's analog out, like we can with Premiere? I know Vegas can output a monitor signal from Firewire which you then have to use your DV Cam to convert to analog to view it on a monitor. If you can use Pinnacle's output that would be superb.

Sorry to say, No.

Can't use the analog output.

You might to try the small 4.5 download.

I've upgraded to DV500 4.5 and DV capture now works in Vegas - great stuff!
Shame about no analog monitor but cant do anything about that.
