Pinnacle StudioDV support/advice?

milkbone96 wrote on 1/19/2001, 9:08 AM
Hi all. I have just downloaded VV2.0b, and by all accounts
and reviews it looks great. I have the Pinnacle StudioDV
card, and plan on installing it this weekend or early next
week, and want to know if:
a. this card is supported and recognized by VV 2.0b, and

b. if there are any tips/tricks/hints that anyone may have
with regards to instalation, codecs, etc., that may help me
avoid any potential problems.

I have searched for 'pinnacle' and 'studiodv' and have read
that the card was(supposedly)not supported in the 'a'
release, but other than that not a whole lot. Thanks in
advance for your help.....signed...

If the device is "OHCI-compatible IEEE-1394-DV" it should
work. I suggest NOT, repeat NOT, installing any 3rd party
drivers or codecs. Install the card and let windows pick
the drivers and codec for you. The drivers and codec built
into the OS work better with Vegas than those provided by
any 3rd party.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. Since I have installed VV
already, when installing the StudioDV card, forget about
using the CD and just let Windows ME do it's thing? I'm
running ME on an AMD K62-450, 192MB ram, 40GB hdd (slave) +
6GB hdd (master, both ata-100 (Promise Controller card),
16MB Monster Fusion v/card. Any other tips? Thanks again..
