PIP

We have a very simple PIP and text that won't show on external monitor. When played the preview window shows preview on external monitor and does show on the external monitor. When the PIP or title hit the preview window plays - with correct PIP or title - and the external monitor freezes. Past the PIP or title and again the preview window shows preview on external monitor and the TL plays and is shown on the external monitor. What settings/changes are needed?

FMC, I love these conundrums . . I'll have a go . .

1/- "We have a very simple PIP and text that won't show on external monitor." - Check your Safe Areas. Is the text outside the DOTTED safe areas region? You know about showing the dotted safe areas?

2/- "When played the preview window shows preview on external monitor and does show on the external monitor." . . yes kinda not sure you get Preview AT THE SAME time ?

. . but . ..

3/- "When the PIP or title hit the preview window plays - with correct PIP or title - and the external monitor freezes. " That's correct. Switching between ExtMon and PC Preview will "freeze" ExtMon.

4/- "Past the PIP or title and again the preview window shows preview on external monitor and the TL plays and is shown on the external monitor. " Correct ..

5/- "What settings/changes are needed?" . . well you can't have the ExtMon AND PC Preview . .. er . .Previewing at the same time - you can scrub the T/L and see on both, but not when you "run" the video . .

So:

A: Check Safe areas.

B: I/you/we can't "run" PC Preview and ExtMon Preview simultaneously - although you can "scrub" and see on both.

I had just posted the problem when I came across the solution. On the Video Device Tab there is a setting - Recompress Edited Frames - which was unchecked in my situation and that fixed the problem.
