PIP question

When creating a picture-in-picture (PIP) using the PAN/CROP feature, is there a way to eliminate the black frame that is seen on the PIP. For example, I would like to have two PIPs overlayed over the main video track but would also like for the PIPs to appear seamless, i.e., soft edges. I may be expecting too much from MS, but thought I would ask just in case someone out there has the answer.

Try using pan / crop to resize the inset pictures, then add the cookie cutter effect to them. You'll need to adjust the feathering to get the soft edge, and it's a bit tricky adjusting the size and position, but it looks good when you get there!

Thanks for your help. I was hoping there would be a way of accomplishing this.

If you are using the PIP preset in COOKIE CUTTER, to get rid of the frame just set the BORDER to 0. For soft edges, try FEATHER.

Thanks again IanG and tjw for your reply. Your suggestions work great--it seems so simple now. I am ALMOST embarassed that I didn't figure it out myself.
