I would render to ntsc dv, then take that avi and use tmpge to encode it.

I generally make svcd's and the quality of the encodes thru tmpge are much better than the main concept encoder used with vegas.

here's a link to download the trial version.

In general, you should get better results with the MainConcept encoder -- yes, we're biased but many people tell us that they like our quality better. However, in MPEG each clip presents its own set of challenges to an encoder.

wk, is there any way you could provide us with a few seconds of your source material for testing? If so, send to:

Hello,
Thank you for responding. I had initially used Mainconcept MPEG1 to render my final movie cut. This looked fine when played on my PC, but when I burned it to a PAL VCD using Nero, My video becasme jerky, and had color blocks due to compression.

Later, I again rendered my movie to AVI using Indeo5 and then burned this to a PAL VCD...this time my video came out to be smooth with almost no blocks...though I must mention the colors on TV did came out a bit washed out.

Unfortunately, I will be unabel to send you my source clip, as for the temporary movie editing, I had borrowed storage media from my colleague...which I have returned now...you see I didnt have 15 GB free on my own PC. Though if you wish, I can send you a clip of the movie rendered on the Video CD, but this ofcource, is the movie after being compressed initially by Indeo5, and then encoded to video cd, coupled with filters and FX.
