can anyone please help me with my problem???

I use a canon fs 20 camcorder. the video plays perfectly in the program that came with it (pixela imagemixer).
the video plays perfectly in windows media player.

however, in sony vegas, the video routinely plays terribly. it pixelates and it is awful.
my computer's cpu is an intel pentium 4 3Ghz. I have 1 GB of RAM. operating system is xp home edition. my computer guy said I have plenty of RAM.
when I play my videos in sony vegas and when I render them, they routinely pixelate. does anyone have any thoughts on how I can fix this????
I tried dividing the videos on my camcorder before bringing them on to the computer. today I had a video that was around 2 minutes long. it still pixelated. sometimes it pixelates and sometimes it doesn't. I don't know why.
any help at all greatly appreciated.

Read the instructions on setting the "Project Properties."
Read the instructions on setting the "Render Properties."

One or both of these settings are the most likely cause of your problem.

Otherwise, there is corruption in your tapes or their capture.
Not many other causes of pixelation in either preview or render.

I have done as you suggested.
I cannot find any detailed instructions on what changes to make in the project and rendering settings.
could you please tell me more specific stuff to try.
note that these videos play perfectly and flawlessly in both pixela imagemixer and in windows media player. not so much as a hiccup. so I think that the files are not corrupted.

I am getting nowhere.
can you think of anything else I can try????

any and all replies most welcome.

You did not say whether you are experiencing PREVIEW or RENDER problems.
Just trying to cover all the bases here.

Provide some more information and someone may be able to help . . .

Use this guide:

Use it as is if your camera is HD, or use 872x480 with 2.5 mbps bitrate if your footage is SD. And use 25 fps if your camera is PAL instead of NTSC's 29.97 fps.

I am experiencing pixelation during preview and after rendering.
I tried doing the things in your guide Eugenia. nothing helped.

can anyone suggest to me anything else I can try to make this work right??????????

If you did EVERYTHING suggested in that tutorial and you still get what you call pixelation, then something else is wrong. You need to upload us a SCREENSHOT of what you perceive as pixelation.

I found a solution.
I edit the videos (that don't work good in sony vegas) in pixela imagemixer (the program that came with the camera and that I use to bring the videos on to the computer with.
the editted videos work perfect.

anyone care to guess why this technique works??????
