Platinum 12 having trouble opening project

In years of using msp projects this is my first problem, so I hope someone can help.

I recently finished a fairly long project that ended with a photo montage using photos on an external NAS drive. The project would load slowly towards completion, which I figured was due to the external drive.

Tonight I went back to work on a different project. No photos on external drive, just video on my on board hard drive as usual. MSP would consistently get to 37% loaded, then slow to a crawl. It would eventually appear to load my clips, but would tell med that the media was off line. After about 15 minutes it would all load, then slow to a crawl and ultimately become unresponsive.

I had no problem opening the program, and was able to start a sham "New Project" without difficulty.

Any thoughts? As always thanks in advance!

First off, make a copy of your project from Explorer just in case.

Rebooted PC?

Hold down shift key when launching msp to reset to defaults.

Move event files to another folder so msp will have to locate them when the project loads.

Thanks MSmart.
I rebooted twice with same issue.
I also fixed some minor hard drive issues with adnanced system care.

Next chance I get I'll try reopening MSP with defaults as you suggested.

Could I just ask you to elaborate on :
Move event files to another folder so msp will have to locate them when the project loads.

Thanks again!

Problem solved! For both projects I was having problems with,I was importing photos from my external NAS drive. We had an internet access problem today, so I had to reboot my cable modem and router; my NAS drive is on the same power strip. When I opened MSP tonight to work, the NAS drive was still off.

And voila, I had no problems opening the project (it of course couldn't find the photos on the NAS drive, but I opened without them and we're back to normal).

Hope that can help someone else out in the future.
