I got the best XMAS present ever!, VMS Platinum. I'm a former owner of a highly volatile editing system, patches forthcoming. Tested VMS 6 and loved it for its stability. Power knocked me out ! Looking forward to catching up on my work...
If your former editing software started with a "P" and ended with "innacle" (and I'm just guessing here...), you have a lot of company with others who have migrated from Pinnacle to VMS over the past few months.
VMS is the only editing software I've used, and I've only had it for about seven months, but I've read some of the horror stories here about the problems people have had with Pinnacle.
I'm sooo eager to get a MAC but the only thing that is holding me back is that VMS is so darn good and to get something compatible in the MAC world will cost an arm and a leg !
When I get a MAC, I will still use a PC for my video work ...
Thanks Tim L and ChristerTX,
Tim you're right on the mark, I could'nt wait for the patches to thru....
I have a ton of VHS tapes to convert (Pyro A/V Link) and editing to do. I strugled with S10, crashes: I love using split screens for perspective, what I got instead were splitting headaches...
Congrats joem, I'm glad you have seen the light by getting VMS.
I have had many, many headaches and lost videos because of several versions of Pinnacle. I actually gave up on editing for almost a year because of them.
Anyway, I'm happily back into editing with Vegas, and things couldn't be better. Well, I guess the non-Studio version is better, but I don't have the $$ for that now....
I started in video editing when I bought an HDV camera (Sony HC1). I bought Studio 10 -- lured by its promise of features. What a disaster! After about 50 hours and no less than 100 crashes, I finally tried VMS. It seemed less user-friendly at first. But, I quickly appreciated the fact that it is STABLE and powerful... and not too difficult, really. After 50 hours of VMS, I have honest-to-goodness finished products that look and sound great. After 50 hours with Pinnacle Studio 10, I had nothing but coasters. So, welcome to the light!
