Play in Burner not working.

I have my dvd built and prepared (no errors)
Burn to DVD and some clips will not play from DVD but they play fine from preview. They will not even play on the player that burned them.
Same with DVDA or Nero. (Breaking up, stalling, etc)
I'm using DVDA 4.5; 8X-R Media ; burning at 4X; Tried a new Lite-On DH20A4P; same problem with this second burner.

What am I missing here.

Sounds like a media problem. What is the media?

May be a bitrate problem - what were your settings?

I was using Linkyo 8X media but tried Verbatim with same results.

Setting were standard DVDA defaults for DVD 4:3
Video 8.000
Audio 193.

I still say it is the media. Try with "proper" media. The problem is that most of the brands of burnable DVDs are not made by whoever has their name on it. Verbatim branded media for example can be made by a whole host of companies. When burning with high bit rates (8 is high) the quality of the media can have significant impact on the end result. Try this:

Throw away your Linkyo DVDs. Probably not woth it.
Burn to Verbatim on about 6 CBR (don't use VBR)
Try it out.

I would be surprised if that doesn't work.

Next, get DVD Identifier and check what media your Verbatims really are.

In the future, stick with stuff like Tayo Yuden or similar. Won't be available at your local Circuit City, but that is why Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. So that you could get the good stuff even without leaving your house.

I was a little 'skiddish' about the Linkyo, have always used other brands. Here's what made the diff. I slowed the burn down. Media was rated at 8X and I burned at 4X and 2X.

Just for the heck of it, I did a full speed 8X burn and they work great with bitrate at 8Mbps.
I then tried a 2X again and was able to reproduce the problem.

I guess slower burns are not always best, like I had always thought.
