Play/Pause Spacebar input lagging by a half second?

Jason-Maloney wrote on 1/19/2023, 3:59 AM

Hi. I recently upgraded to Vegas 20 and have recently encountered an issue with the Play/Pause button. When using the spacebar anyway. Where the video in the preview will pause when I press the spacebar but the audio continues on for about a half second or so. It's the same when I press play. It's not a huge issue but it is super annoying when trying to edit and find specific moments. I'm someone who can edit fairly fast so this issue, minor as it may seem to some, is really getting to me.

Tried using a different keyboard but the problem persists. I have also tried changing the preview quality as maybe that was causing a lag but it still lags. I don't know what's causing it either, is this a bug?

I'm using Vegas Pro 20 Edit

Windows 11

RTX 3060 Ti

In the Vegas Explorer window, try turning off the "Create Project Collection' slider switch:

Hopefully, that will stop the lagging.

Thanks for the suggestion, gave it a try. But unfortunately the lag remains

Is this the same issue that you raised in https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/upgraded-from-vegas-pro-16-to-vegas-pro-20-and-it-won-t-stop-crashing--139096/ ?

And if yes, was there any improvement in timeline performance after transcoding the VFR video to CFR - or did the lagging persist?

This happens to me in Vp20 when I go to the desktop or to another program for a while and then come back to Vegas. The sound will start playing one second later. It helps if you change a different sound card in the Audio settings. If it happens again, you have to change it again, or close Vegas and open it again. I don't know any other way.

It's only in Vp20. Previous versions are ok.

Playback buffer settings? Experiment.

ive figured out the problem. like for sure. turn OFF audio buffering. preferences-audio device - enable track buffering. you want enable track buffering OFF.
