Playback issues

HI,

Having a problem with Vegas 5.0. I have a JVC GR-PD1 and catpure the footage in HI Res mode 25p and load it into vegas media pool. The footage however is being played back at 50p meaning, the footage plays back twice as fast. Vegas is automatically seeing my 25p footage as 50p. when I move the video to the timeline the footage is half the size of the audio. When I check the properties of the video in the media pool the frame rate is 50p and is greyed out and cannot be changed.

I need to change the frame rate manually to 25p so vegas will play back the video at normal speed. has anyone had this issue or know who to fix it?? thanks in advance

Capturing the footage with what? Cineform can't see the Progressive media, so it merely reports it as you instruct it during capture. The framerate is auto set when you capture, based on how you instruct it in prefs.
To change the playback RATE, right click the file and choose Properties, then set the playback rate to .500. But...if you captured this correctly, it shouldn't be acting up. I don't have a JVC to check it any longer, but I was doing fine with the Cineform tools a few months back.

Hi Thanks for you reply. The following is all Hi Res 25p footage shot with the PD1. I've tried to capture with D-VHS and Cineform Connect HD.

Cineform Connect HD
=================
If I capture the footage in .m2t, rename it to .mpg it plays back fine in Windows media player. If I convert the .m2t to .avi using Cineform Connect HD it plays back the video x2 the speed. If I load the capture .m2t into Vegas it plays back x2 the speed. If I load the rename .mpg footage into vegas which, plays normal speed in windows media player, again video plays back at x2 speed. The only setting in Connect HD is an analogue or progressive radio button and I've tried both with the same x2 video playback problem. None of these problem occur if I record at 50P. Any ideas?

D-VHS
=====
Capture in .mpg or .m2t. Again in .mpg format can watch footage in windows media player at normal speed. Load the captured .m2t or .mpg into vegas and plays back x2 the speed.

When the clip is in the vegas media pool, I choose properties and the frame rate is greyed out and set to 50.000 causing it to playback at x2 the speed. All I'd need is to change that to 25 but it won't let me as it's greyed out. If I put the footage on the timeline and choose properties I can change the play back rate to .500 which then plays the footage back normaly as you said (Is this the fix?). The video fooatge is half the size of the audio on the timeline so should I drag the footage to the right to match the size of the audio. Is that then the solution. Dying to get this issue out of the way so I can start learning how to edit which I'm exicted about.

Thanks so much as this is driving me crazy.

Some time has past but ...

... I'd like to drop the note that Vegas 6 does correctly capture PD1 .m2t hires streams with 25p and playback in Vegas 6 also is fine.
