My partner has had trouble playing dvd's created in dvd architect on new MAC's like G4's. Anyone know how to ensure our dvd demo can be viewed by both platforms ??
I've had this problem as well.
The solution is to burn to DVD-R media. Seems Macs have a problem reading DVD+R media the way DVDA burns it. They will play DVD+R media from other soures.
I've tried several dvd discs on an Emac at work (it burns dvd-r) . The one that came closest to working (sometimes it played, sometimes the application quit) was a sony dvd +rw. Sony -rw, memorex -rw, and a Verbatim +r weren't even recognized by the application and I only rec'd the main menu and chapter selection menus (it wouldn't play the videos) when I burned a Maxell -r disc. I changed the bitrates from the default setting to 6 and I guess I must have changed the audio from ac3 to pcm or vice versa. I really wish they had given me a dell lab instead of an imac one. sigh.
FWIW, I had DVD-A prepare the files, dragged and dropped the folders into Nero DVD, UDF/ISO template and used Nero as my burning application (These were all suggestions and hints that I used from the helpful/generous folks in this forum) . It plays fine on the emac's dvd drive, it plays fine on my dell laptop Windvd, whereas before it wouldn't at all. I used Maxell dvd-r.
