Please be patient, everyone.

We've gone through this with Vegas 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 .... etc. as well as for Sound Forge and ACID. I'm sure SONY will notify eligible users of special upgrade offers soon. History indicates that these offers usually come out about a week after the new version is announced. Always before we've seen many reports of people who purchased the upgrade immediately only to get mad a few days later when they get a better offer in their email. Well ... what's the rush? Got clients walking away from you in droves because you didn't upgrade to Vegas 7 already today? I think not. Rest easy, play with the trial version, see how well you like it. If you're a registered Vegas user you'll probably get a nice offer soon.

If you don't get one within a week or two, contact customer support and ask nicely. Sometimes emails get lost. Sometimes folks have set their account up to not have special offers sent to them and forget they did that. SONY does want to take care of their existing customers, so be patient and give them a chance.

And no, i'm not a SONY spokesperson. I'm merely speaking from experience.

You have to be correct. If they are charging 234, then I think it will be counter-productive in terms of upgrade sales. However, the thought crossed my mind that perhaps the bean counters at Sony are trying to squeeze margins out of Vegas upgraders. By the way, I disagree about people being patient. Correct me if I am wrong, but, in the past, I recollect that people already had a sense of the upgrade price before the launch of the product.

No.
There are pages available that make a rather weak attempt to be more specific. Trust me, if it supported BD or HD DVD Authoring it;d be there and very prominently and it isn't.

Nor are a few other things, like what happened to AJA card support??

No mention of Vegas on the AJA pages, lots of talk about desirable things like DPX and Cineon and 12 bit, none of which Vegas supports. Well AJA do do AVI but that's about as open ended as QT.
