i'm using an old version of vegas audio 2.0..i put it on my laptop running vista..all is well until i go to add effects to a track...where did all my effects go..where's my freeverb?!...all was good on win 98 but now i just can't get the fx running

The method of installing plugs changed between Win98SE and WinXP. Older versions of Vegas don't know how to install them the new way. If you search around the download section of this site you may find a program named "migration tools" that will help you out. Alternatively open up Windows explorer, find the .dll files that correspond to the plugins, and drag them onto Vegas' timeline to register them manually.

There's also that trick where you find the plug-in .dll in Explorer, then drag it on top of c:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe

Oops, I don't know anything about Vista, so that might not work!
