I am about to edit a 1-hour program shot on HDV tape using Vegas 9.0c. I want to end up with a program that I can print from Vegas to HDV tape with the best possible visual quality.

Before I start, since I work alone, can someone please double check that I am using all the correct settings? Here are the settings:

TO CAPTURE: Use the Vegas HDV capture utility. It is automatically set to capture M2t files at 1440x1080x12. I am capturing from a Sony HVR-M10U deck via firewire.

PROJECT PROPERTIES: Use template for HDV1080-60i, with default settings (1440x1080, pixel aspect 1.3333), except set the full resolution render quality to Best.

TO RENDER: When rendering either to use within the project or for print-to-tape, save as type Main Concept MPEG-2 and choose the template =HDV 1080-60i. This will render the file as an M2t with audio.

TO PRINT TO TAPE: Open: File/Print to HDV Tape. Select: Use Existing File. Choose file to print using browser. Record deck (Sony HVR-M10U) should be set as follows:

-Input switched to HDV (using the IEEE-1394 firewire input)
-VCR HDV/DV: Set to HDV
-i-link Convert: Set to Off
