Hi!

I just added another 512MB to my RAM but for some reason i do not feel the change when i render. (My sytem recognizes the additional RAM)

In the preferences menu in Vegas do i need to change the Dynamic RAM Preview in the video tab? What is the memory indicated here for?

Hope to hear from you guys!

Cheers,Ü

Dynamic RAM Preview is for Previewing in realtime. It has nothing to do with Rendering.

Thanks!

Because i changed the RAM Preview to a much higher setting and when i rendered last night my computer gave warning that i had low virtual memory.

Now that's different to your original question. I'm not sure how Vegas manages RAM Preview as to needing RAm for rendering. I understood your question to mean that does RAM Preview assist Rendering. How much RAM your computer needs FOR rendering is different. You could very well find that reducing the amount set aside FOR rendering may improve render speeds. BUT - there is always a but - I've been told and have found it is the SPEED of that RAM that is the killer.

So:-

1/- RAM Render Building is assisted by increasing the RAM allocation

2/- RAM needed FOR rendering is dependant on available SIZE and its SPEED

3/- How Vegas MANAGES 1/- and 2/- I have no idea at all.

So, I guess, I would do some Render Tests using the same Event with various amounts of RAM Preview.
