i'm trying to import and/or capture video, nothing is happening, it says no device found, i'm wondering if the card i have is o.k. it is a ddr nvida geforce3 ti 200 graphics card with dvi, and i have a sony dcr-pc9 camera, please help, with any info or directions.
I'm not at all familiar with nVIDIA's video cards, and after spending about half an hour on their website i think i now know LESS about them than before. The have very little useful information about what features each model has. I did notice however that nowhere do they even hint at video input or capture abilities for the geforce ti line. Are you sure that card is even capable of capturing?
DVI is a digital output for some flat panel monitors. What you need for your PC9 is a 1394 firewire input. I don't know of any nVidia cards that have a 1394 port, though some have analog video inputs. But you definitely want to stick with firewire. If your computer does not have one, you can pick up an inexpensive firewire card and cable to hook up your PC9 to your PC.
You say "nothing is happening". Can you tell me how you are actually, physically connecting your camcorder or vcr to the PC? What cabling you are using and what port you are using? Do you know the type/name of the port you must be connecting your Camcorder or vcr to?
I'm not familiar with that model Sony. (I suppose I could look on the Sony web site, but that site is huge and convoluted, and I'm basically lazy.)
Are you trying to import Digital or Analog source? If it's Analog, you have to be sure to go into your capture options and turn off VF's attempts to control the camera as a digital device. (For that matter, if the Sony doesn't recognize VF's commands, this could still be an issue, even if you're trying to capture digital info from the camera.)
I couldn't get VF to capture from my Canopus converter until I had disabled that feature.
