Please Help!! Major audio problems

I really need some help with this. I just purchased a Nady duel VHF wireless microphone system and used it this weekend to shoot a presentation. It worked fine except that every ten minutes there is loud static which lasts about 2-3 seconds and totally ruins the video. When they did work well it was great. I need a reliable way to capture audio and don't have a ton of $ right now to spend on a top of the line $500 - $800 system. What's reliable and works? When I see an interview with both people wearing a wireless microphone, is that going through one receiver? Please help. Thanks

Wireless microphones used spectrum shared with many other services. The best advice I can give is to move the receiver much closer to the microphone. You can either physically move the receiver and run a longer audio cable (watch out for hum) or if the receiver has a coax connecter run some GOOD coax to an antenna close to the microphone. I was able to get rid of noise problem with a Nady system a few years ago by moving the receiver behind a curtain which was within 10ft. of the body pack.

Some good names are Shure, Telex, Sony and others. Most of my recent experience has been with the higher end Shure systems which work quite well.

A couple of good papers are found at:
