Please Help Major Problem: stall out/sputter/delay

Right Coast wrote on 6/15/2002, 2:23 PM
Has someone had this problem? During VF 2, video in editing mode, while video is playing, it will stall out/sputter/delay/ for half a second for every 5 seconds. It moves like a person that can't property drive a manual transmission. Is this a common VF problem or a sound card issue? Has anyone experienced this?

All my problems with delay, freezings etc... have always been a to full drive, and or programs like Kazaa running in the back ground. Now I always delete what ever I can, then defrag, then I use "end it all" a program that shuts all the non esential stuff down, but you can just close every thing manually.
I am not very techie...like some,...but anything I can add to repay all the great info I have gotten here...i will add my 2 cents( Canadian)

It's not a known VF prob. Also it may be a defrag issue. I use a free utility to power defrag every day when I'm editing:

Also make sure you've got the latest DirectX8.1.

Dabzilla:

What is the program you use to shut-down all non-essential programs?

END IT ALL......you can download it from the site of same name, it automatically protects "systray" etc. that you need to run. then you can put a lock icon on any thing else you want to keep running. If you have something running, it asks you if you want to close it. Then when you start editing or defraging you can close everything with one button. Very simple, cause I'm not very techie, and mostly self taught.
I was having freezes and things because I had a share music program running in the background, looking for music while editing, and I guess when people were downloading off me it was interfering. So now I gather all my potential music, then shut it down.
Wishing you smooth editing!
