Hi,

I really need some help here. I have a customer who is willing to give me a dvd of his wedding and wants me to put in VCD so that he can view it on his computer. And also his wedding is so long that the wedding is in multiple DVD. He wants to know if I can maybe reduce teh quality but fit in one dvd.

Is it possible to redo an mpeg1 file from his dvd?? and then maybe reduce the quality and then put back in one dvd?? If i can save as an Mpeg1 file then I know how to make a VCD from there.

Does anyone know the simplest and fastest way to do this. Please let me know asap as he's awaiting my answer.

THANKS EVERYONE IN ADVANCE!!!

I honestly think you are going to have a unhappy customer no matter what you try. I did a personal DVD that was excellent quality and tried to put it on vcd (part of it) The quality really sucked and I tried every trick I know. You know how people are even if you warn him that the quality is going to take a hit they may not realize what you are saying and later be unhappy. We all know how much word of mouth can hurt.

To convince him, CD's are cheap, so burn part of one and show him. Besides, if it is 2 DVD's, you are talking a bunch of CD's for VCD. if I am following your discussion. Bear is right on. If you are talking lowering quality on DVD, do a search on this site for birate discussions.

Would be cheaper and easier for you and him to buy a DVDrom($60) for his computer.

I agree a cheap DVD-Rom is the way to go. Plus it would mean repeat business for you as he would bring more videos for you to do since you're going to do such a great job on this one! :)
