Please help! - q9550 v. i7 920

Getting ready to buy a new computer for Vegas. Trying to decide between Q9550 processor, versus i7 920.

I'm specificially wondering whether the i7 would offer siginificantly AVCHD playback and/or MPEG encoding.

The q9550 system utilizes high-end DDR2 RAM, whereas the i7 uses 1st gen DDR3, if that would be a consideration.

If you are going 64 bit OS and Vegas then i7. Otherwise 9550.

Hulk, I will be using 64 bit OS and Vegas.

Do you have an idea of the kind of difference would I see in playback and mpg rendering?
