Drag the end of the clip out to the desired length, which in this case is twice the length of the clip. Insert a velocity envelope. Position the cursor at the frame where the clip starts repeating and insert a node on the velocity envelope line. Insert another node anywhere after this first node. Drag the second node so that it is directly underneath the first node. Right-mouse-button click on this second node and Set to -100%.

Alternatively, if you have Vegas 5, place a second copy of the clip immediately after the first, right-mouse-button click on it, and choose Reverse.

The velocity envelope WILL do it. Just make the event the double length, add a velocity envelope, and leave it set to 100%. Now in the middle, add two new points - the first at 100% and the second at -100%. You can make them vertical to each other and it will immediately start going backwards at that point.

what if a need to slow down something in front say have a clip and need it to play backwards first and then play normal. It seems if i extend it to 200% or -100% it does some wird motion effects. Damn it would be so much easier if it let people do numerical distortion on a clip.
