PLEASE HELP - Video Card Recommendation

mstaken wrote on 1/3/2002, 8:41 AM
I have VF 2.0 installed on a PC running Win 2000 Pro. I need to be able to export files to analog(VHS)and was wondering what video card anyone could recommend that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Is Firewire the only solution?

I need to do this very soon and have had great difficulty trying to get an answer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

The very best setup you can get is a 1394 card (Pyro) and a Sony DVMCDA2 Media Converter box. This is not the cheapest solution (about $300), but it works great under all conditions.

Others may have other advice-

I'll echo the external converter solution. It's what i'm using now and the
results are about as near perfect as you could ever hope for. It just plain
works, every time. It's also your best solution for capturing from analog.

I've tried ATI's All-In-Wonder and RAGE VIVO, Matrox's G450, and even
Creative Lab's Dxr3 MPEG decoder card (has NTSC composite and S-video
outs). All were very disappointing. They got the job done, but just didn't
produce anything i was willing to show to someone else.

For capturing MPEG files from any analog source, I've used Dazzle with great results! No problems whatsoever! For AVI, I use my all in wonder pro, but it sometimes locks up the system, and gives me other various problems.
