OK, I installed VF 2.0s. It's on my D partition. I want to capture the initial video to my K partition which is on a second hard drive dedicated to video only. How do I tell VF where to capture the file from my VCR to? There must be a way to tell the progrem which drive and partition you want the captured file to be written to? Please help. I'm anxious to do my first capture.

In VF 2.0, click File -> Capture video. This will launch the VidCap program. Once this launches, click Options -> Preferences. You'll see a "Disk Management" tab. To add a new location, click "Insert Folder" then select the location where your want your captures to be saved. You can uncheck any locations in the list that you don't want to use.

Capture locations are used in the order listed, but only pertain to selected (checked) locations. You can use the up and down arrows to modify the order.

Craig,

Thank you! Should I enter in the file (folder) name in which the video file is to be captured or just click on the appropriate drive?

C'mon man. You need to just try it. I'm not an expert because someone gave me all the answers. You'll be more proficient by looking, digging, and trying things.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but sometimes you just have to try things.

Now I'll answer. :) The captured files will be saved in the location you select. So if you want them in the root of K: then select K:. If you want them to be in k:\captures, then you'll need to create a new folder called "captures", then select that.

Point well taken. I did what you said and it worked like a charm. First time capturing from my VCR to VF. I love it. Now I need to dive into all there is to learn about what to do with my raw captured file to put it together that way I want. No offense taken. You're right.

I recommend downloading the sample project from the VideoFactory download page. It is large about 100MB, but it will show, by example, you how to use titles, transitions, overlay, soundtracks, etc.

Good luck, and have fun!
