Please I need help on Vegas Audio!

Hello everyone.

I am using Vegas Audio 2.0 (but I also have an older version and I would be willing to use it if necessary), and I have the following problem.

I want to record from a microphone through a mixer, which in turn connects to my PC. Since I do that way, I connect the mic to the “line in” plug of my PC instead of the “mic” plug.

When I do so and open Vegas Audio, there is no signal (while there is output though the speakers that are directly connected to the PC, so that proves that the signal goes in.)

When I plug the mic directly to the PC, Vegas does get the signal and I can record, but the quality isn’t enough (the mic is a good one).

I guess it’s about Vegas’ configuration, but I can’t figure it out.

Could anybody help? I’m in a big hurry.

Thanks in advance,

Charly

Open up the mixer volume control panel (double click on the little yellow speaker icon in the lower right corner), click Options, Properties, slect Recording, click OK. You will now see the input controls for recording. Most cheaper sound cards only let you record from one input at a time, and you probably have the mic input selected. Select the Line input instead and try setting the level to mid-scale to begin with. You can adjust this later if you need to in order to get the volume level of the recording correct.
