I just found a weird solution for my Plextor 12x10x32s SCSI CDRW drive that I recently purchased to replace my broken 8x4x12 drive. When I hooked up the new drive, I placed it in the SCSI chain in the same order as the previous drive, assigned it the same SCSI ID and made sure all the dip-switches were the same. The drive gave me IOCTL errors in Vegas and CD Architect in both Win2k and WinXP. I spent some time on the phone with Plextor and also found that if I unplugged the Exabyte drive that was just before the Plextor in the chain, the drive worked in both XP and win2K. That was bewildering. Then, I finally decided to try to switch the order of devices (I don't know why I didn't try this earlier, but then again, the other drive worked just fine this way). I placed the Exabyte LAST in the chain and put the new Plextor first, keeping their SCSI ID #'s. Now everything works fine. So, to you frustrated Plextor users, I suggest trying that. I wouldn't hold your breath for SF to fix this as it doesn't sound like a strictly software issue...
Hope this helps.
