I have just installed this burner and am having no luck trying to make a DVD using DVD-A.

Has anyone been successful in using this? I have upgraded the firmware to ver 1.04 and keep getting this error when I attempt to burn the DVD: Warning: An error occurred while writing a file: Error 0x8004e0c8 (message missing).

I can still return it before the end of the weekend, however, it is working very well for all other tasks.

So, if anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Doug

Speaking solely for myself, based on only my own experience, Plextor is great for data back up. As for for making video DVDs, Plextor is great for data backup. Buy a Pioneer or a Sony, mate.

Solution: Don't use DVD-A to burn the DVD. Use it just to prepare the files and use another DVD burning software for the final touch. I personally use Easy DVD Creator which came with my Plextor and it works every single time with flawless DVD's that play in any player. The Plextor is great and very very fast.

I was tring that tonight but am just learning my way around DVD's and all this terminology.
I do have the Easy DVD Creator but am not sure how to get it to use the TS files that DVD-A makes? Also will it use the ac3 sounf files or just use the one in the video files?
If you could give me a more detailed cookie cutter outline then I could try that.

Thanks

I use two free and versatile programs to do this. First using ImgTool, I just point the program in the direction of the TS folders created by DVDA this creates an image which DVDDecrypter can then easily burn to DVDR. I have only used DVD+R and they play in all players I have tested. I imagine you could burn the image (.iso file) created with ImgTool with Easy DVD Creator but I have not tried this myself, I have read bad reports on the program and find I can do all that it can do and more with other free programs. go to dvdrhelp.com for more info on these programs and where to download them in the Tools section, along with other ways to do what you are attempting. I have used the PX-708A for several months and have no complaints, it has worked great. As for DVDA, I think it's time for an update.
Good luck.
