im using a 5400 rpm drive too make sure i can get by without getting a new one. Everything is working good but the plug ins. When im adding an effect to a track, 90% of the time its causing an error and freezing whole program. i have 512 ram and 750 athalon with 17 free gigs..........do i need the 7200 rpm to fix this or what?

Just for further info...

It isn't really the RPM of the drive, rather the speed it is capable of transferring data. I frequently export to my 5400 RPM Maxtor firewire, that's rated at 400 Mbps works without problems. :-)
