Plug-in / Media Generator Blur

I recently downloaded the Vegas 6 upgrade and seemed to develop a problem. Whenever I add an effect, i.e., Brightness Contrast Plug-in or a title to my timeline it blurs the preview such that I can't even judge the result. This happens with simple transitions also. Picture is crystal clear before adding an effect. Help!

Are you previewing your video the a 1394 setup like a Canopus box?

Yes Laurence. I'm going out of a PCMCIA card into a Canopus box
and out into a JVC Monitor

Check your preview setting. When outputting the signal through a firewire device to an external monitor you will get full quality when you set the preview settings to "Best (Full)".

I have the preview setting at Best Full. Problem still remains. Do I have to selectively render to solve my problem?
