Plug-in: 'Reverb' failed to load.

Just yesterday I noticed that my projects that used reverb are giving me errors:

Plug-in: 'Reverb' failed to load. Please make sure the plug-in is properly installed.

When I look into my plug-n chain I now see that reverb (and maybe other) effects are gone?? How could that happen? and how could I fix it short of a reinstall?

First, shut down all Sony Creative Software applications.

1) Go to .../Program Files/Sony/Shared Plug-Ins and rename the Audio folder to AudioOLD
2) Do a "Repair Installation" using the appropriate .msi (not .exe) file in the .../Program Files/Sony Setup/ folder.
3) Once the new Audio folder has been created, look in AudioOLD for any .dll files that did not get recreated (because they were from other Sony Apps) and Copy them to the new Audio folder.

Restart Vegas. That "should" take care of it.

Thanks Musicvid, I performed the repair and compared the two audio folders and they are identical. However, the repair appears to have been successful nonetheless. I don't get it, but who's complaining?

Somehow, the .dll that contains the Reverb plugin got corrupted. This was more common back in the Win98/Vegas 2 days, but still happens from time to time.

I made it a habit then, and still do now, to make a working backup of my Shared Plug-Ins folder from time to time, and every time I do an install or uninstall of Sony software, even if just a demo version. The backups have saved my hiney more than once.
