Plug-ins won't load after upgrade

I'm using Vegas with some Waves plug-ins. I just upgraded from Waves 2.x to 3.5 and now my previous Vegas projects loose all the Waves plug-ins! I get an error saying something like "Plug-in 'Waves S1-StereoImager+' not found. Make sure it is properly installed". But it is installed AND it is named identically. Any Waves plug-ins that I had used in my projects now do not load at all so I have lost all my settings.

Is there anything I can do to remedy this? I think that I may have to un-install 3.5 and re-install the 2.x version until I am done with these projects... What a pain!

When you install a new plugin Vegas detects the change and scans all the plugins (visibly) at startup. Did you uninstall the old plugins first, or install the upgrade over the top ? I would suggest you uninstall your plugins, update to the latest DX if not already, then re-install the plugs. Or it could be something to do with Wave's dreaded PACE ....

Do you have Sound Forge?
If so did they show up in SF?
If not you can try this,
Go open SF and re-size it for half the screen
go into your Waves>plugin and select one of the .dlls and drag it to a blank work space of SF, and answer yes when the window pops up. Close out SF and go back in it should scan for new plugins.

I just upgraded over the old 2.x versions. I did notice the scanning for new plug-ins. I can understand not being able a load new version of a plug-in if the two versions were substantially different, but it looks like the difference between Waves 2.x and 3.5 is primarily cosmetic and possibly tweeks to the internal algorithms. And of course the PACE security.

I guess I'll try to do a complete uninstall of everything and re-do it, just adding the new ones. All I have to loose is time!

You should un-install 2.8 before installing 3.5
If you have anything like Norton Win Dr. or Reg Clean to clean your registry before installing 3.5 it would really help.
