Plugin question

For all the months I am using Vegas, only two days ago something weird started happening (and if it was happening before, I hadn't notice). If I have the cursor in the middle of a clip in the timeline and then I apply some plugins on it, the plugins will take effect from that point on and not for the whole clip. Any idea how to prevent this from happening and to apply it to the whole clip without having to reposition the cursor all the time at the beginning of each clip?

Hi Eugenia,
I think you will find that a plugin does effect the whole clip that you add a plugin to, but the problem you are having comes from there being a keyframe involved. If you add a plugin to a video clip with a keyframe, it will affect the clip from the keyframe forward. Hope this helps. Cin

The video is a captured .m2t file, that was never adjusted or edited in the past in any way. So not sure if the keyframe was added by the camera or capturing app, but for other clips from the same camera in the past this was not happening...

When I select and open a plugin for an event, I always first take a look at the keyframe timeline. The cursor should be at the beginning. If it isn't, I send it there with the appropriate keyframe button. If not, the effect will apply only from where the cursor is, in so doing, creating a keyframe.

It would be good of course if the cursor would always be at the beginning of an event, when you click on it. This can be done by selecting the 'Normal Edit Tool'. Hit that button or hit CTRL+D.
So if you say you didn't have this problems a couple of days ago, I guess you must have been using some other 'selecting tool' since, without being aware of it.

Taking into account that i'm posting from experience with the full version of Vegas and haven't used the studio version since version 3 ... i may not be terribly accurate, however ...

In the effect window the first keyframe toggle button is 'sync cursor'. With this button on you will see the effect you have been describing. The cursor is placed in the keyframe timeline at the same place it was in the event on the editing timeline. If you alter any of the effect parameters then a new keyframe is automatically produced at this point.

Turn that toggle off and the cursor will be at the beginning of the event and all effect changes will happen from the beginning, unless you manually move the cursor yourself.
