Plugins sparce in 8Pro??

So, I had to rebuild my machine this weekend. Wiped everything clean. When it came to Vegas, I just downloaded 8Pro and gave it ago. To my surprise, many of the plugins upon which I rely were not there. Did I do something wrong during the install, or are they really scaled down in 8Pro?

To get my project out, I downloaded Vegas 7 and some of the key plugins (Paragraphic EQ for example) were there.

Tell me I did something wrong.

Should I download all my older versions to get the rest of the plugins that I am missing?

Thanks for any advice.

When i set up Vegas 8 Pro on my spare computer i was surprised to see how few plugs were there too. But then after i installed Sound Forge all the plugins i was expecting were there in Vegas too.

Glad I'm not the only one to experience this. Haven't gotten around to installing SF, yet. I hate having to reinstall XP. Big waste of time.
Thanks for the reply, Cien.

When I installed.... and uninstalled V8, many of the Sony plug-ins went with it. Re-installing a SF-9 update brought them back.

I have a suspicion there was a "bug" introduced with Vegas 8 where the plugins directory was spelled incorrectly - either missing an 's' or with an additional 's' (forget which) compared to V7.

There was a thread somewhere about this.

I've had similar problems. I've bought many versions of Vegas over the years (and actually keep most of them on the comp for comparison's sake.) Uninstalling 8 seems to take plugins with it. The only way to get 'em back is to install an older Sony Audio product...

Try this -- don't know if it will work for you, but it brought all my plugins back:

1) Close Vegas
2) Rename the "Shared Plug-Ins" folder to "Shared Plug-InsX"
3) Open Vegas
4) Close Vegas
5) Rename the folder to "Shared Plug-Ins"
6) Open Vegas

For some reason, after a fresh install, it does not always recognize the folder even though all the plugins are really there. Fooling it by temporarily renaming the folder worked for me.
**Note: This was a new install problem. I did not uninstall / reinstall as you did. In either case, this is a bug that Sony needs to address in the next release.

Or, did you download a demo version of V8? If so, the same behavior is documented in the Vegas Video forum.
