Poor quality DVD using 1440 x 1080 template

We have just filmed a dance show using the Sony EX1 set to 1440 x 1080 25meg/sec.
The job was edited in Vegas 8C and exported from the timeline using mainconcept2 mpeg 2. We produced a DVD using TMPG3 and noticed very bad intelace clashes were the dancing is anything but slow.

I have spoken to Sony Prime support for the cameras and given them a copy of the DVD. They say that it is a problem in converting from the 1440 x 1080 Vegas timeline.

Has anybody else noticed this and has a solution?

Any help gratefully received.

Under "Project Properties", you must choose a "Deinterlace Method", choose "Interpolate." I'm guessing that it is currently set to "None."

Yes, Interpolate is the best setting for fast motion.

It also make sure you use the DVDA Video Stream MPEG template, with the Best quality.

I done HDV 1440x1080 to DVD no issues. Ironicly, I didn't change anything from the default HDV template & it looked good. Can we see a snippet of your video & a screenshot of your project properties?

Hey Friar, how do you get 1440x1080 on DVD? Are you talking about the project settings and then you downgrade to 720x480? Is it possible to use resolutions other than 720x480?

"Is it possible to use resolutions other than 720x480?"

There are a few oddball smaller resolutions that are legal for DVD, but 720x480 (or 720x576 PAL) is the largest you can go.

I seem to remember reading about burning HD content to DVD media .. With limited play time, of course...

Perhaps that is what TheHappyFriar is referring to ..
