Popping noise.

Can anyone help me, i am having a very annoying problem when my previewing and rendering, when i preview the video it creates a very annoying poping sound every few seconds, this same problem occurs once the video has been rendered, i belive this is a vegas issue because videos i have rendered in other software do not do this. my captured videos do not do this and downloaded media files do not do this, can anyone please help me get rid of this poping noise? Thanks.
I Have included an MP3 file that demostrates this problem, this also happens in any other file format that i render to. http://www.partscheap.com/popping.mp3

The media plays fine in other applications, this includes windows media player, real player, virtualdub, winamp3, any other program it works fine, also works fine in ulead videostudio 5, but i cannot use ulead videostudio 5 for my needs, becuase it is not nearly as advanced a program as vegas. Also, i downloaded the vegas video 4.0 trial version and the same problem occurs.

i may have been unclear on this one, what i meant to say is that the media is fine before it is imported into vegas, right now i am just trying to get it to work so i am importing and then exporting the media, before it is imported into vegas, and then rerendered, it is completely fine, once is goes into vegas, or video factory, it clicks and pops.

new info, this problem seems to only occur on videos with mpeg layer 3 (mp3) audio encoding, audio with pcm encoding do not have this issue.
