possible cure for long load times on Pro 9

I sent an email to Sony last week complaining about Pro 9.0d taking a very long time to load projects and/or files.
I heard back from them today and here's what they said to do.
I did it and my load times are now like they used to be :-)

Thank you for contacting Sony Creative Software. Try resetting the Vegas pro 9.0d application to it's default values. To do this:

Close the program. Now press CTRL+SHIFT while double-clicking on the program's icon to launch it. Continue to hold the CTRL & SHIFT keys until the program is fully up and loaded.

In newer programs, you will see a window that asks "Do you want to reset all preferences to default values?" Place a checkmark next to "Delete all cached application data" and then click Yes.

Hi,

Very interesting, I'm goint to use it to copy with another problem : disappering folders in plugin manager. I have started this procedure but abandoned because I'm not sure what will happen.

Do You know : this will clear application cache or this will set all values in internall preferences tab (use shift and start option/preferences from menu) to default ?

I would like to clear cache but to prevent my preferences like directories, track height etc. Did You lost your personal settings for directories after this procedure ?

Best regards,

RRA, yes, it resets everything to it's original default settings which means that you lose everything and have to reset them they way you want.
It wasn't an issue with me as I have yet to take Pro 9 seriously due to it's many bugs.

Not for me. :(

After reverting back to 9c/32 the other day I had hoped that your solution might be the ticket, but it wasn't.

After reading your post I upgraded to 9d once again, opted to "reset all preferences / clear cache" and my latest project took nearly ten minutes to load. Closed the app and reloaded and there was no difference. Preview window performance was also pitiful, especially on 1080 Cineform media. Messed around with the Dynamic Ram Preview numbers and that just made things worse.

Just reverted back to 9c/32 and the same project loads in ten SECONDS and preview is performance is normal.

I get the feeling 9d was rushed to market to meet a NAB deadline. I think it's pretty sad that Sony doesn't chime-in here officially and keep the customer base informed.

Tim, all I can say is that it worked for me and I was pleasantly surprised.

I get the feeling 9d was rushed to market to meet a NAB deadline.

I'd rather they had waited and extensively beta tested the app to get all the bugs out.

I think it's pretty sad that Sony doesn't chime-in here officially and keep the customer base informed.

Even just one note from any of the staff saying something like "we know that a lot of you are still having problems and we're doing our best to fix things" would go a long way towards restoring at least some customer confidence.
I wonder how much of the staff has been cut in recent months as I'm sure that has an impact on issues such as ours.
