Possible to bring back undo?

I'm editing a series of training videos. When complete with one, I was deleting everything except the opening titles and music bed, resaving as the next in the series, then continuing on with the edits for that lesson. Unfortunately, I forgot to resave my last one, didn't realise until the final save, saved it as the correct one, then closed the program in disgust at myself. Ooops. "I've just made a tactical error, haven't I?" (name the movie for bonus points)

I *might* have been able to just lay down on the "undo" keys and get back to the starting point and save my Lesson 3. I don't suppose there's a way to get back the undo list in the edited Lesson 4 and undo all the changes to get my Lesson 3 back, is there? Luckily, Lesson 3 isn't terribly long, but I'd rather not have to re-do it if possible....

Best,
Jesse

You can't unring a bell.

No, you can't restore Undo's from a previous session, but do look for the .veg.bak files that might have been saved if the "create project file backups" general preference was on (it is by default). I think one of these gets made each time you save.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking, but have to ask :)

I'll see what I can find....I was saving quite often though, so that probably got overwritten?

What you may want to try next time in addition to the automatic backup is get in the habit of making generational backups on a regular basis and then name them myfile-a, myfile-b, myfile-c and so on. That way if you do something dumb or you suffer some kind of crash that corrupts a file at least you only lose one generation of your work.
