Possible to capture DVD using Vegas?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but would I be able to plug Audio/Video cables to my DV Camcorder with the signal passing through a firewire to my computer and then captured with Vegas?

i have found that using vegas to capture is not always the best way to go

if you have a dvd rom there are programs out there to take video straight from the dvd to your computer

but if you are going to do it the way mentioned above i have found more success using the pinnacle studio line to capture

and then using vegas to edit
