pre/post toggle for transitions?

I have a video frame that is cropped to show within a frame.

I have applied a flash transition to this. However the full pre-cropped frame is affected by the transition? Is there a way to prevent this?

I know that for video effects, you can indicate pre post panning or cropping.

Buster, if you use Track Motion to do the down sizing, transitions only affect the smaller frame.

Another way may be to use Nested Projects.

Thanks, however, I am cropping a wide shot to a close up.

Same approach, except:

1. Pan/Crop to get your close up - this will still be full frame
2. Track Motion to reduce that frame and place it inside the main frame
