The pre-render option in Vegas is steamy pile of ?!@?#?!. Never works properly. Stops saving pre-rendered sections at random times and will only start remembering if I Cleanup Prerendered Video...., restart Vegas, and sacrifice a lamb and two goats.... Then it will work for a while, until it randomly stops working again..... before pre-rendering the whole project, thus making any pre-renders a COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME!!!!!

I have to render my MPG stream for my 90 minute project without pre-renders. This takes over 7 hours on my Quad-core 4gig RAM Vista SP1 machine.... and that's only if I'm lucky and Vegas doesn't crash at some point. The NEAT VIDEO plugin is acting up and currently runs out of memory at the same point every time!

I'm learning that Vegas+Vista=No Productivity!

NeatVideo released v2.2 on March 12, 2008 which, among other things, has improved its memory management.

Yes, I just installed it, and it's faster and crashes less, but still crashes.

And pre-render has just stopped saving AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

I Cleaned-up Pre-rendered Video but can't get Vegas to REMEMBER that it just pre-rendered something!!!!!!!!!

I soon might be going back to XP, I give up......

It all seems to be related to pre-rendering clips that are MPG source. The NEAT plugin and/or Vegas pre-render doesn't like source clips in MPG (from a crappy still image camera). I've pre-converted the MPGs to AVIs and am now performing tests. Will let you know if it solves my problems.
