Preferences not saved in Vegas 5

Hi, any changes I make in Preferences are not saved when leaving vegas 5. That worked, in fact still does, in Vegas 4. De-installed and re-installed many times (on XP, as administrator). BTW, though the filters are showing up in the FX window and I can drag'n'drop them, none appears when I open the FX dialog box on an event, that hasn't had any fx so far. Does anyone know, where Vegas 5 saves all that info? Thanks for any help.

Happens to me all the time. Even Vegas 4 does this to me on occasion. Specifically with properties.

I was afraid of updating my current Vegas4 projects to 5 if that has a 'bug' like this... If everything else okay with your installation. Do you have the correct FX path. E.g. I did not see the Magic Bullets film effects after having them installed.

so really noone here who had that problem? I can't upgrade to vegas5 without having fixed that somehow...

I believe that your problem is basically an install one. Not doing something right.

I have deinstalled and installed V5 many times - with and without Vegas 4 on the same machine.
I have actually installed V5 on my office computer which also had a previous Vegas4 installation on it, and there everthing seems okay and the prefs are saved. But that's not my 'workhorse' machine. Don't tell me Vegas5 needs 'Word' to function properly:)

It happened to me one time then after installing an update it was OK. I believe it was 4.0 to 4.0b.

Haven't noticed this in Vegas, but I've turned of the spash screen option in DVDA at least 20 times already, always turns itself back on. Not a deal breaker but annoying.
