I guess this is good news for those of us that use both but I am positive Sony wont leave us hanging when the time comes. :)

It's already available but it isn't free, then again the cost is minor compared to all things HD. At the moment though support is only for 720p from what I know.

But surely Sony must give a plug-in with the new HDV cam else this would be a deterent to buying it. I'm looking to buy the Sony HDV camera and am hopeing to be able to use it with my Vegas4. If I can't I won't buy it. I hope I will not be disapointed.

What is the current plug-in for use with Vegas to support the new Sony HDV cam?

That would be the CineForm Connect HD codec. Their cost is $500.00 for the codec only or $800.00 bundled with Vegas 5.

Read the whole interview--it's very interesting. Adobe is licensing the cineform wavelet technology for Premiere. One would hope that Sony announces a similar solution for Vegas when the new HDV camera is released. It would be pretty stupid not too.
