I wish Sony would change the wording of that error message. It's technically illogical and -- based on the number of times people ask about this message -- obviously confusing.

To wit: Folders don't have "space" (unless the system is using quotas, which most Windows systems are not). Storage media has "space."

What the message should say is that the harddrive being prepared to does not have enough space. DVDA needs enough room on that drive to turn your project into DVD files before it burns it to the actual DVD disc, as well as some wiggle room. The drive should have freeabout twice the size of your project.

Use Windows Explorer to see how much space is left on the drive.

thanks, Could I try and prepare it to a 2gig thumb drive?

You could, but 2GB is less than half the size of a DVD. At a normal default bitrate your 58 minute project is probably at least 3GB, so the thumb drive is way too small.
