'Slightly' biased here, but...

If it's new, take it back and swap it for something like RME. The Firestudio was a bad device (not all Presonus is, just particularly the FireStudio). Their support for it is cack too.

[I know that does not help you otherwise, but it might do in the long run]

I have a Firestudio/Digimax FS setup that works fine. So "was a bad device" doesn't really make much sense to me. It works fine and as long as you can get a handle on buffer settings in Vegas, you should be good to go.

"as long as you can get a handle on buffer settings in Vegas..."

What issues did you have with the buffer settings?

It's not so much that I was having "issues", it's just that Samplitude and REAPER (especially) have way better user features for tweaking buffer/latency settings. It's just laid out kind of bland without much user tweakability.

I have both Samplitude and REAPER.

Can you be specific what is "way better" in their tweaking of buffer/latency settings?

What is 'bland"?

What types of 'tweakability" do you want/need?

Thanks
Peter

Are you recording 8 tracks at once? What are you using for buffer settings?
