Pressing "NEXT" on dvd player goes beyond scene and starts into next

Example : dvd has 4 scenes, several chapters in each scene. 4 buttons on main menu page for each scene, scenes are selected using markers i.e. In Out.

Problem is that while using my dvd player that pressing "Next" chapter after the last chapter in say scene 1 instead of ignoring the press and shortly returning to the menu, it goes to the 1st chapter in scene 2 and continues on to further chapters. The same happens with other scenes.

Theres no problem within dvda software, using preview to test and selecting Next and it never goes beyond the last chapter in each scene, just returns to Menu, aok.

If instead of pressing Next, but just let it play on my dvd player it works ok, just returns to Menu, same as in dvda.

Is this maybe normal dvd player action? I tried the dvd disc on 2 different players, same result.

Thanks for any input.

You may have a solution by now--but I added a Marker about 1 second before the end. Pressing Next now goes to that marker and then plays the Scene for 1 sec--not even noticeable on my BD player since it takes 5 seconds or more to reloads the menu.

Hi rondi, no solution so far. I'll give it a try tomorrow and get back, thanks.

If I'm understanding what you're saying, this is how discs work. If you select scene 2, the disc will start at scene 2 and then play through to the end of the movie.

If you want the viewer to return to the main menu after each scene, you'll need to add each scene as a separate movie.

Hi rondi, that works a treat, thanks. I'm delighted with this solution rondi, thought I might have been doing something wrong.

Steve, I use 1 source file then mark in/out scenes using markers and then selecting each relevant marker and pressing the I and O keys to mark the beginning and end of each scene accordingly. I guess as you say this is simply the way players work, i.e. pressing next will bypass your scene selections and just go on to the next scene.

Rondis solution elegantly solves this.

Thanks.
