Preview and Render don't match pan/crop window?

Hi All,
I've searched around for answers but nothing has resolved this issue i'm having. I've just noticed that my preview window is not matching what i'm seeing in the 'pan crop' window. I've tried matching both project and render settings to the media i'm using, and still no luck.

I've tried the 'scale video to fit preview window' setting, yet the preview still seems 'zoomed' in slightly. In the pan/crop window, i've tried matching both the clip's output and source aspects, and still no luck. I've tried the 'Auto' and full screens on the preview window, but still it doesn't reveal the entire media as i've intended it to appear.

Recently i got an LG ultrawide monitor (34") and i'm wondering if the computer's resolution (2560X1080) could have something to do with it. I've tried changing the monitor resolution, but that didn't fix it.

I've since rendered a small section of the video only to discover the rendered video doesn't match what i'm seeing in the pan/crop window. I've included a screenshot to illustrate this issue. I've also just purchased an upgrade for Movie Studio 15 (build 157), thinking maybe that would be the simplest solution, and i see the problem is on this version too.

Does anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions as to what could be causing this? It's driving me crazy!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers, Fresh

<--- i was under the impression whatever's in the pan/crop box is what should appear in the movie.

Do your project properties match your source properties? Pan Crop is not the final output, what you see in the Program monitor is what you should see on output?

Hi David, thanks for your reply. Yes, i imported the source media (mp4 video) via the 'Add Media' feature and it's 1920 X 1080. This is what the project properties are set to, as well as the render properties. I was under the impression that whatever is shown in the 'pan crop' square is what should appear in the video.

In any case, i think i've solved my own problem by starting a new project from scratch, and it seems to be remedied. Sorry for the post.

The Pan/Crop option is for resizing or cropping your video, thatswhy I think you are using the wrong option for what you want to achieve. Your screenshot shows exactly in the preview screen what you are doing and that is havy cropping your source video .
It's sad we cannot see your settings to tell you what is exactly wrong.

FYI, the problem i was having was cause by using the 'stabilization' feature under 'Media FX'. Apparently, when stabilizing a video clip, it must somehow distort the original size in order to make the corrections. Once i used that feature, the problem re-appeared. By NOT using stabilization, the clips behave as expected.

Yes. It zooms into the clip in order to not see the edges of the video when a scene is stabilized.
