Preview degradation

When I first loaded DVDA2, preview of projects was smooth as silk, just like viewing an AVI file in the WMP.

Lately, no matter how I tweak my system, I get a jerky (very jerky) preview. I don't pay much attention to it, as the resulting DVD's seem unaffected. I'm just curious what might have changed on my system to cause this problem.

Thanks for any suggestions at correcting the situation.

What quality is your preview set to? Best, High, Medium, Low? If you've increased the quality lately, that's going to be harder on your system and result in jerky playback.

Background applications? Adware, spyware, virus?

New multimedia software that may have changed your decoder?

Thanks for the reply.

No background aps running, no viruses or adware.

(Always amazes me how indices are keyed - do a search on the DVDA2 index for preview quality or quality, and you get nothing)

Anyhow, I did find the preview quality drop down, and, if I go to the lowest setting (1/4 size), I get smooth playback. Any setting higher than that becomes jerky.

Should I be looking to adjust somewhere else? In WinXP, perhaps?

Thanks again.
